In the book Awestruck by Glory I write about how an occultists covered our house with her material things and all kinds of cards and amulets in order to gain spiritual entrance into our house. During the attacks that we had from the occult we learned that doors to the demonic can be opened through material things, and bad spirits can attach themselves to “stuff’. For example, the very first thing she did to enter our house was to leave her coat hanging in hallway. We found out the hard way that demons attached themselves to things and then we had to clean out our entire house both physically and spiritually.
After the occultist left our house physically, I found hidden cards and her personal items in between the pages of books, in our clothes, in closets, underneath couches and beds, behind cupboards. We had to clean out everything because she had cursed these items and attached evil spirits to them. As long as they were in my house, it gave the demons legal right to be there. So we started cleaning by removing all cursed items. In our search we found many hidden cards and personal items from the occultist.
When we found them, we did not know what to do with it. We tried all kinds of things, but ended up burning them and getting them out of our house. We also removed anything associated with evil and the occult, pictures of goddesses, or other gods, statues, trinkets, because these were things which she also used to gain access. We especially got rid of “so called” blessing cards, red strings, and anything associated with kabbala. And I even got rid of anything that was associated with angels, because it reminded me of fallen angels, and the Bible specifically instructs us not to worship angels. I was very thorough, mainly because I knew all my focus had to be Jesus. Nobody told me to do it, I did it instinctively, because I knew the occultist could use all these things as an open door to send demons against us.
Why Stuff Matters
I learned that witches and kabbalists will often give you gifts in the beginning to open the spiritual door to your house. They put incantations on material things and give them to you or they leave them behind. Spirits can attach themselves to these things and sometimes the giver does not always know they are giving something cursed that can sometimes be passed from one hand to another. Either way, when the object is accepted by someone physically, it is almost like saying you accept it spiritually. Usually the witch has to be directly in your personal vicinity, but we also know that there are many objects which can carry a demon, where the receiver or giver is not aware of its spiritual effect. All idols, statues or even pictures of angels, can be used by a witch to send a demon after you. I learned that it is of crucial importance to get rid of all these items to completely stop their influence and close all spiritual doors.
Some people said:
“It doesn’t matter…If you don’t believe in it. It won’t influence you..”
We did not believe in it at all and it still affected us. Witchcraft can affect you, no matter what you believe, and to pretend it doesn’t exist is naïve.
Some Christians also said we didn’t need to clean our house, because it only affected us if we gave it power by believing in it.
This was not true at all. We did not give it power. It still affected us and others.
Others said: “But Jesus died for our sins and therefore it doesn’t affect me and I have complete authority over it.”
Yes, if you are a believer in Jesus, you have authority over it and can break its power. But God also called us to lead a Holy life and he warned not to bring occult objets in the house to protect us. Cleansing your house is not doing something out of fear, but being obedient to God and giving honor to what His Son Jesus has done.
What does the Bible say about cleaning our house and stuff?
In Exodus we read that God says we are not make images of other gods.
You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. (Exodus 20:4 NIV).
In Deuteronomy it states:
“The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.” Deuteronomy 7:25-26
In both 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles King Hezekiah and King Josiah are instructed to cleanse their entire country of all idolatry.
In the New Testament the disciples got rid of all witchcraft. They did not tolerate it and keep the cursed items after becoming Christians.
Acts 19:19 (NIV) “A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.”
In 1 Thessalonians 5:22 it even says that we should : “Abstain from all appearances of evil” (KJV)
WHY DID GOD SAY TO GET RID OF CURSED ITEMS AND THINGS THAT APPEARED EVIL?
The Lord did not want people to keep evil things in the surroundings of his children. He did not say this to judge us or be mean, but he said this for reason. Not to make life difficult for us, but rather to warn us from the spiritual consequences. Keeping cursed items from other gods, or even things associated with evil in the house gives the demonic permission to be there. These permissions can be broken through prayer and the blood of Jesus and by getting rid of the objects.
GET RID OF ALL ITEMS associated with the occult and all items which have an appearance of evil . Your life and soul is more important than material items.
